Answer key and explanations (opens below)

1. (B) 2. (B) 3. (D) 4. (B) 5. (D) 6. (D) 7. (C) 8. (A) 9. (B) 10. (D) 11. (C) 12. (B) 13. (B) 14. (B) 15. (B) 16. (B) 17. (A) 18. (A) 19. (C) 20. (C) 21. (A) 22. (D) 23. (D) 24. (D) 25. (A) 26. (D) 27. (C) 28. (D) 29. (B) 30. (A) 31. (C) 32. (D) 33. (D) 34. (C) 35. (A)

  1. 1. (B)

Do not look at the shapes — look at how big they are. Three are the same size and one is bigger than the rest.

  2. 2. (B)

62, 67, 68 all have 6 in the tens place. 36 has 3 there, so it is the odd one out.

  3. 3. (D)

Do not look at the shapes — look only at the shading. Three of them match each other and one does not.

  4. 4. (B)

The pattern goes big, small, big, small. After a big one comes a small one.

  5. 5. (D)

Put your finger on the rectangle and move it straight up one box. You land on the rhombus.

  6. 6. (D)

Line them up from tallest to shortest: Ishaan, Ira, Aarav, Vihaan. So the shortest is Vihaan.

  7. 7. (C)

Along each row the shading stays the same, and down each column the shape stays the same. The empty box needs a star shaded like the one beside it.

  8. 8. (A)

A semicircle, an oval and a circle are all drawn with a curved line. The pentagon does not, so it is the odd one out.

  9. 9. (B)

The pattern is semicircle, rectangle over and over. After rectangle comes semicircle.

  10. 10. (D)

An oval and a semicircle are both drawn with a curved line. A circle does too, so it belongs with them.

  11. 11. (C)

Count all of them together: 8 and 3 more make 11.

  12. 12. (B)

    Every jump adds 10. 60 + 10 = 70.

  13. 13. (B)

Run your finger round the edge and count each straight line. A rhombus has 4 sides.

  14. 14. (B)

The pattern goes big, small, big, small. After a big one comes a small one.

  15. 15. (B)

    2 notes of ₹ 10 are ₹ 20, and 4 coins of ₹ 2 are ₹ 8. Together that is ₹ 28.

  16. 16. (B)

    There are 18 balls — 1 ten and 8 ones. So 18 = 10 + 8.

  17. 17. (A)

Every step turns the shape a half turn the same way, so the next one is turned a half turn further than the last.

  18. 18. (A)

The T rod has 7 beads and the O rod has 4. That is 7 tens and 4 ones, which is 74.

  19. 19. (C)

Line them up in your head from one end. The shortest stick is the one that reaches least far.

  20. 20. (C)

    Work each one out. 5 + 7 = 12, 3 + 14 = 17, 9 + 10 = 19, 9 + 11 = 20. The greatest answer is 20.

  21. 21. (A)

We play in the park after school in the evening.

  22. 22. (D)

Count on from 10 up to 20: that is 10 more candies.

  23. 23. (D)

    4 notes of ₹ 10 are ₹ 40, and 2 coins of ₹ 5 are ₹ 10. Together that is ₹ 50.

  24. 24. (D)

An orange has the shape of a sphere.

  25. 25. (A)

    Compare the prices: ₹ 3, ₹ 15, ₹ 6, ₹ 2. The biggest is ₹ 15, the notebook.

  26. 26. (D)

A ball is round, so it rolls. The others have flat faces and only slide.

  27. 27. (C)

    15 cm − 5 cm = 10 cm of ribbon is left.

  28. 28. (D)

    ₹ 6 + ₹ 15 = ₹ 21.

  29. 29. (B)

We measure how heavy one grape is in grams.

  30. 30. (A)

Match them up one to one. 15 − 3 = 12, so Kabir has 12 more.

  31. 31. (C)

Take the shorter length away from the longer one: 18 − 12 = 6 cm.

  32. 32. (D)

The lines cut the big rectangle into 4 small ones. Joining neighbours makes more: 10 rectangles in all.

  33. 33. (D)

    The two things cost ₹ 2 + ₹ 6 = ₹ 8. ₹ 50 − ₹ 8 = ₹ 42 comes back.

  34. 34. (C)

    The tens digit is 9, so the ones digit is 9 − 2 = 7. 9 tens and 7 ones make 97.

  35. 35. (A)

    First 32 − 9 = 23. Then 23 + 8 = 31.

About this mock test

Is this IMO Class 1 mock test really free, with no login?
Yes. The whole paper is on this page: no account, no sign-up, no phone number and no ads. Nothing your child answers here is sent anywhere or stored.
How is it marked?
The same way as the SOF paper: Logical Reasoning 1 mark a question, Mathematical Reasoning 1 mark a question, Everyday Mathematics 1 mark a question, Achievers Section 2 marks a question, 40 marks in all. Press Finish and mark to see the score by section and the right answer, with an explanation, under every question.
Can I print it?
Yes. Print paper + OMR sheet lays it out like the real paper, with a bubble sheet and the answer key on its own last page so it can be set aside. Choose Save as PDF in the print dialog to keep a copy.
Is it the same as the real IMO paper?
It has the real paper's shape — 35 questions, the same sections in the same order, the same marks and the same 60 minutes — and its questions come from the IMO Class 1 syllabus. The questions are Sprinto's own, not SOF's; Sprinto is not affiliated with the Science Olympiad Foundation.

Fresh questions every time

This paper stays the same so it can be printed and shared. In the app every IMO Class 1 question is new, the next one is picked to be just hard enough, and mistakes come back until they stick. Still free.
